On 1 Dec 1818, he married Anne Robertson Shelton, daughter of William Shelton and Elizabeth Cheney Johnson. She was born about 1767 in Pittsylvania Co VA, and died 1861. Her father was William Shelton, born 4 Mar 1734/5. Her mother may have been Elizabeth Cheney Johnson or Hannah Yates (born about 1743 in Pittsylvania Co VA),

When he was 15 years old, he joined the Confederate Army, where he served with honor until the end of the Civil War. In 1868 he was a captain of a Ku Klux Klan. He studied medicine and was a surgeon of extended reputation, having passes satisfactory examinations at the highest institutions of Scotland and England. He was a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Surgeons of London, England. In 1874 he married Kate D. Miller, who was born in Jackson TN.

#11 Albert G. Pendleton Jr (from #9) was killed in a plane crash in Dayton OH. He went to Jackson TN to live with the Vandens. Mrs. Vanden was the only living sister of Katie, Dr. Pendleton's wife. He was crazy about flying, and during the World War he was director of many flying fields for the government, and was killed in a nose dive in Dayton, Ohio, just following the ending of the war.
